Is there a deadline to apply for the Surgical Technology Program?
Yes, May 1.  

When is the deadline for admission to the SUT Program?  All information must be submitted by May 1, 2006 for the Fall 2006 class.


What is the starting salary for Surgical Technologist? The average starting salary for Surgical Technologist in the Mississippi area is approximately $25,00 a year not including "call pay".


What is "call pay"?  In most hospitals, Surgical Technologists are required to cover surgical emergencies when the regular surgery staff has gone home for the day.  Techs receive $1 to $2 an hour while they carry the pager and time and a half while they are doing a case.


Can I attend the SUT  program at night or part-time?  The SUT course is offered during the day.  Once admitted into the program, you are required to be  full-time (12 hours) each semester.


In what areas of the hospital are Surgical Technologist allowed to work? Surgical technologist  work in Surgery, Labor and Delivery,  Pain Treatment, G I Lab, Sterile Processing, and Emergency Room.  Physicians will hire techs to work in their offices, also.


Where do the SUT students rotate during the clinical portion of the class?  The clinical rotation includes Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center, Total Pain and Rush Foundation Hospital.
