Literacy- Learn to Read

Meridian Community College offers literacy classes to help adult students learn to read.   Classes are available free of charge. Adults seventeen (17) years or older are eligible to attend.

Contact the Adult Basic Education/GED Office to make an appointment to register and pre-test. New students will take a pre-test to place them in an appropriate level of instruction. Pre-testing is used to evaluate the student’s preparedness and make class assignments.

English as a Second Language (ESL)


English as a Second Language (ESL) at Meridian Community College is taught to prepare immigrants to participate fully in our English speaking community, and prepare them for citizenship.  ESL is provided by a federal grant, overseen by the Mississippi Community College Board, and offered through the Community and Business Development Division of MCC.


MCC provides ESL instruction free of charge for area residents. Contact the Adult Basic Education/GED office at 601.484.8796 or 601.484.8798 to enroll.
