East Mississippi Public Safety (Law Enforcement Training)

The Meridian Community College- East Mississippi Public Safety Institute (MCC-EMPSI) has been designed to provide demanding and progressive law enforcement / detention training to those individuals seeking to become professional law enforcement or Jail officers.  MCC-EMPSI provides training in an innovative adult-education community format.  The goal of the MCC-EMPSI is not only to provide the student with the best possible training, but to provide the community with the best trained law enforcement officers/jailers.

Law enforcement classes at MCC-EMPSI are generally held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  Occasional Saturdays are also scheduled for classes.  Jail Officer classes will be scheduled in accordance with the instructor and student availability.  Summer months may allow for daytime classes whereas during the fall, spring, and winter evening classes will be more common.  At the orientation meeting, each student will receive a copy of the class schedule.  Individual classes are usually two to four hours in length, depending on subject matter.  Breaks are normally ten minutes for each hour, and are the discretion of the instructor.
