Located in the heart of Meridian’s North Hills District, this historic layout continues to be one of the gems of Mississippi golf. Relocated to its current location in the 1930’s, Northwood has seen its share of historic moments and personalities. Home to golfing legends, H.G. Weddington, Eddie Merrins, Lou Hart, Mike Taylor, and many more Northwood continues to influence the game of golf in Mississippi.
The 6,178 yard par 71 courses provides a shot makers paradise, with curving holes and angled tee shots, Northwood supplies every shot in the bag during an 18 hole round. With hazards, bunkers, and out of bounds guarding nearly every hole, this historic layout offers a fun challenge for today’s players.
The signature 8th hole is a 358 yard par 4 that provides a steep drop to a peaceful lake which guards the green and aggressive tee shots. Once you’ve managed the doglegged left tee shot, the look at the green gives the golfer an Augusta-like approach shot.
Northwood has hosted many Mississippi Golf Association Championships including the State Father/Son, State Mid Amateur, and State Amateur Championships.
Under the guidance of longtime PGA Club Professional, Jimmy Gamblin, who won the MJGA’s Robbie Webb Award in 2005 for his dedication to junior golf, Northwood continues to produce Mississippi’s best junior golfers, many of whom have gone on to play for Meridian Community College.
Traditionally Northwood plays host to MCC's Lou Hart Invitational in the Spring.
