Gulf Coast Slides Past MCCFrom School Reports Gulf Coast (FL) was able to battle back from a 6-1 deficit
to shock MCC by a final score of 7-6 to secure a victory in the second day
of the Rush Invitational Tournament at Scaggs Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Commodores scored four runs in the seventh inning and two runs in the
eighth inning to complete the comeback win over the Eagles. MCC finished the game with 12 hits and four players with
multiple hits in the game. Johnny Tolson, Wade Wass, Gabe Woods, and Sam
Peterson finished the game with two hits apiece for the Eagles. Wes Stokes
drew the start on the mound for MCC and worked six solid innings, but didn’t
factor into the decision. Stokes allowed one earned run and ended the game
with three strikeouts. Dylan Brown led Gulf Coast with four hits and drove in
three runs, while Dakota Spikes added a pair of hits in the victory. This
marked the second win of the season for Gulf Coast over MCC. The Commodores
defeated Meridian earlier in the season 11-5 in Panama City, FL at the First
Pitch Classic.
